The Department of Statistics, the Institute Flores de Lemus (IFL) and the UC3M-BS Institute of Financial Big Data (IFiBiD) of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid are pleased to announce an international conference on Statistical Methods for Big Data (SMBD2018) in honor of Professor Daniel Peña to celebrate his 70th birthday. This is a good opportunity to remember the singular contributions of Professor Daniel Peña to the development of Statistics.

The program will feature invited talks from leaders in Statistics, as well as contributed talks and poster sessions from participants. The aim of the conference is to promote the developments of new methodological and practical results of Statistics in the Big Data era. Consequently, the conference is open to a large variety of topics involving all aspects of Statistics, which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Forecasting.
  • Functional data analysis.
  • Multivariate statistics.
  • Quality control.
  • Robustness.
  • Statistical learning.
